Executive Director of Fraunhofer IAO Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Oliver Riedel
Vita:
Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Oliver Riedel studied Engineering Cybernetics at the Technical University in Stuttgart and earned his doctorate at the Faculty of Engineering Design and Production Engineering.
For over 20 years, Prof. Riedel has been involved with the basic principles and practical application of virtual validation methods in product development and production. During this time, he has managed numerous projects for major international companies in the automotive and energy industries with the objective of introducing virtual methods.
After working at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO, he held various management positions at CENIT AG Systemhaus and SiliconGraphics Inc. where he was involved in the area of professional services for virtual product development. Subsequently, Prof. Riedel was responsible for process integration and information management in the product process at AUDI AG. As of end 2010 he was responsible for information technology and process integration product process within the Volkswagen Group. From March 2012 he was Corporate Executive Director Control of Planning Processes at AUDI AG.
In November 2016 he was appointed Professor at the University of Stuttgart and is managing director of the Institute for Control Engineering of Machine Tools and Manufacturing Units and holds the chair for Information Technology in Production. Since June 2018, Prof. Riedel has been Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO and since October 2021 and since 2023, he has been Executive Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO.
